Police Arrest Boebert's Ex After Restaurant Altercation

Jayson Boebert, the ex-husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), was arrested on Tuesday following an altercation with her at a restaurant near Denver last week, CBS News reported early Wednesday, citing court records.

The two were at a restaurant in Slit when the reported altercation took place. Police said at the time they were investigating the incident.

“Garfield County Jail records confirm he was arrested and then released. The total bond was set at $2,500,” CBSColorado reported. “Jayson Boebert was the one who called police following the restaurant incident and claimed he was a victim of domestic violence during the altercation.”

[Like I said yesterday, he should have kept his mouth shut. One has to wonder whether police had access to surveillance video in the restaurant; either that, or witnesses came forward to declare that Mr. Boebert was the aggressor. Otherwise, police will either arrest both parties or neither party. No one was arrested immediately, so police must have *something* new to arrest and charge him at this later time. That doesn’t mean he’s guilty, but it does remind us that domestic incidents can be very tricky to navigate — and also reminds us of the wisdom of keeping quiet in the aftermath. — Ed]
