Welp, About Those Electric Buses in Swedish Cities in Winter...

In the northern Swedish municipality of Skellefteå, all local buses are electric as part of an overall “sustainable public transport” initiative. However, on Thursday, all bus services had to be canceled due to very cold temperatures, which meant that the vehicles needed to be heated in order to function optimally.

Despite Skellefteå Municipality’s emphasis on electric buses to improve everyday life and the environment, it turned out that the electric vehicles were not as reliable at temperatures as low as -35 degrees Celsius. As a result, it was decided to stop all bus traffic between 08:00 and 14:00 and between 18:00 and 21:30 on Thursday.

[There was no “regional traffic” service on Friday. Threw in the towel completely. I hope this isn’t a “15 minute City” sort of set-up yet, where they’ve already taken away your car, etc… ~ Beege]
