“I have very, very strong reservations about all of this,” [David] Axelrod said Friday on CNN.
“I do think it would rip the country apart if he were actually prevented from running because tens of millions of people want to vote for him. I think if you are going to beat Donald Trump, you are going to have to do it at the polls,” he also said. …
“He’s only gained since he started getting indicted, you know, what you thought might be kryptonite for him has been battery packs. This is a big one for him,” Axelrod said, referring to how green kryptonite could kill Superman in the classic comic book series.
[This strategy has backfired so badly and so consistently that one has to seriously wonder whether it’s deliberate. Joe Biden would easily lose to either Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley, or at least Democrats seem to think so. They want Trump on the ballot in order to pull Biden across the finish line. Or so the theory goes, and right now that doesn’t look too irrational a theory. That strategy backfired on Democrats and the media in 2016, though, and it might backfire again in the end. — Ed]
