Two years after Congress set aside $7.5 billion in the annual budget to build electric vehicle chargers nationwide, none have been built.
Politico reports that the Biden administration’s vision of chargers readily available across the country to incentivize EV car purchases is off to a slow start, as not even half of states have taken bids from contractors to build chargers.
[A slow start? Are you kidding me? It hasn’t started at all. A Biden admin official told Politico that “you have to go slow to go fast,” but this isn’t going at all. And the fact that this has gone unnoticed until now, when the media is playing this as a ‘Republicans Pounce!®” story, tells you that the demand isn’t present for their use, either. It’s a government boondoggle in pursuit of a nanny-state policy in which Americans have no interest. — Ed]
