It’s likely that Scholz has supported the “Wilkommen” policy — he is of the same party of Merkel, after all — and is simply lying about having always opposed it.

And he’s probably insincere about this as well. He sees the possibility that the immigration-skeptic AfD will take power, so he’s pumping out tough but empty messaging about mass deportations.

Still, it at least tells us that the tolerance for never-ending illegal immigration is ending, even in Germany, which started this latest round of madness.
