I would have thought that case studies in sex lives was a rather integral part of anthropology, at least it seemed that way when Margaret Mead was the hot anthropologist of her day, a forerunner of the over-rated Jared Diamond. But no.
The next meeting of the American Anthropological Association (AAA) had scheduled a panel on the topic, “Let’s Talk about Sex Baby: Why Biological Sex Remains a Necessary Analytic Category in Anthropology.” The panel consisted of six women anthropologists.* And you can guess what happened next.
[No really, you can guess what happened next. But you should read it anyway, and marvel at the idea that anthropology now wants to cut off basic human biology from its science. It’s yet another indication of radical capture in Academia, and the end of effective science as we know it. — Ed]
