National Cathedral changes windows to reflect new religion

The National Cathedral in Washington D.C. replaced its once-beautiful stained glass windows this week in honor of Black Lives Matter protestors.

The new windows are titled “Now and Forever.” Woven between pieces of stained glass are individuals standing and marching and carrying signs that say “Fairness,” “No Foul Play,” and “NOT.” The entire display takes place over four window panes.

On Saturday, a ceremony was held to honor the new “art” and the artist, Kerry James Marshall, who said the windows were symbolic of what needs “repair” in America. He claimed that the windows “reinforce those ideals and aspirations embodied in the Cathedral’s structure and its mission to remind us that we can be better, and do better than we did yesterday, today.”

[In fairness, they’re replacing windows of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, which had come under heavy criticism even before the George Floyd riots. Is it too much to ask that a ‘national cathedral’ reflect on timeless values, like … y’know … God? Or even the blessings of liberty and freedom rather than two different perspectives on racial determinism? — Ed]
