Republicans who negotiated a short-term government funding plan and their GOP critics ratcheted up their infighting on Monday, as personal tensions spilled over into a social media brouhaha.
The rumble on X, formerly known as Twitter, highlighted GOP hardliners’ hostility over funding the government and the degree to which they’ll go to undercut the Department of Justice’s criminal cases against the party’s de facto leader, former President Donald Trump.
House Freedom Caucus members Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Byron Donalds, R-Fla., defended the deal they helped negotiate.
“I think we’ve got a pretty good win here,” Roy said on “The Guy Benson Show,” adding, “I don’t know if my colleagues will go along with it or not.”
“Some of my colleagues don’t think that’s good enough,” Roy said.
