Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) disclosed on Sunday that she has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be present in the Senate in the upcoming days.
In a statement, Duckworth confirmed, “I have tested positive for COVID-19 today after experiencing mild symptoms. While in isolation, I will continue to work on behalf of the people of Illinois and adhere to medical guidance regarding my return to the Senate chamber.”

Senator Duckworth joins the ranks of several other senators, including Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Chris Murphy (D-CT), who have recently tested positive for the virus. This development comes amidst a surge in COVID-19 cases across the United States.
