Denmark restores blasphemy laws -- and Europe's next

Nevertheless, the left in Denmark is now embracing a new age of censorship and speeech criminalization. The country will now create an amorphous crime for those who show “improper treatment of objects with religious significance.” The vagueness is by design. Citizens will not know what may be considered such improper treatment and thus a chilling effect will curtail future political speech.

The reversal in Denmark illustrates the dire situation for free speech in Europe and the growing danger here in the United States.

[Over the last ten years especially, there has been a concerted effort to impose government as the arbiter of acceptable speech, even here in the US. This has ironically been amplified and accelerated by mainstream media outlets that fear competition from grassroots voices, a fear that has prompted the corrupt “fact check” industry within the MSM. The excuse here in the US is “misinformation” rather than “blasphemy,” but the effect is the same — giving power to government to arbitrarily choose which speech can be expressed. That is tyranny. — Ed]
