Russians snatch up another American

he Lefortovo Court of Moscow has taken into custody on charges of espionage a native of Russia, a US citizen, Gene (Evgeny) Spector, who was previously convicted in a bribe case against the former assistant to former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. This was reported to TASS in court.

“The court granted the request of the investigation to detain US citizen Spector on charges under Article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

TASS does not yet have information about the nature of the charge brought against Spector.

Spektor was born and raised in Leningrad, but later moved to the United States and became a citizen there. He was the chairman of the board of directors of the Medpolymerprom Group of Companies, which specialized in drugs for cancer. Previously, he was accused of mediating the transfer of bribes to Anastasia Alekseeva, Dvorkovich’s ex-assistant. By a court verdict, Spector was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 3.5 years.
