Federal police officers have arrested a man after an “emergency” that forced a Malaysian-bound flight to be turned back to Sydney Airport.
Police have not confirmed the nature of the emergency, but passengers on flight MH122 have posted videos on social media of an apparently agitated and “unruly” fellow passenger.
[Apparently, the man opened his backpack and threatened the flight with what was supposedly in it. The pilots made the correct call in returning to Sydney, where the man kept the plane at the end of the runway for a couple of hours. Given the way this ended, it’s probably safe to assume that the man has mental and/or emotional issues, and that his next trip to Kuala Lumpur will likely be by rowboat. — Ed]
