Vice President Kamala Harris recently got into a public feud with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over his state’s education curriculum, a move that — according to a new CNN report — may have been inspired by California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s penchant for sparring with high-profile conservatives.
The CNN report, published Sunday, said the former San Francisco politician has been paying attention to how other Democrats, including Newsom, have employed a more pugilistic attitude toward Republicans in order to gain national media attention.
“Harris has been quietly noting how other Democrats, including her friend and sometimes rival for attention California Gov. Gavin Newsom, have grabbed the national spotlight by swinging at Republicans aggressively,” the report said. “Aides say she has also been watching the news out of the Republican presidential race and telling Biden aides she wants to be seen as fighting against extremism.”
