Court papers say a law restricting lessons on race and gender is hurting teachers’ ability to do their jobs and depriving students of a quality education.

It’s centered around a law passed in 2021 amid concerns about keeping critical race theory out of the classroom. The law is commonly known as the “prohibited concepts law.”
The law lists 14 things teachers are forbidden to include in curriculum, including things like lessons promoting one race or gender as superior to another, or concepts that promote division based on race, politics or social class.
