A nuclear-propelled US submarine has reached South Korea, marking the second deployment of a major US naval asset to the Korean Peninsula this month, as stated by South Korea’s military on Monday.

The USS Annapolis docked at a port on Jeju Island approximately one week after the USS Kentucky arrived at the mainland port of Busan.
Notably, the US Kentucky’s arrival marked the first time a US nuclear-armed submarine had visited South Korea since the 1980s. Following Kentucky’s arrival, North Korea responded by conducting test-fires of ballistic and cruise missiles, ostensibly to demonstrate its capability for nuclear strikes against South Korea and deployed US naval vessels.
