Martha Stewart has waded into the hotly contested remote work debate. …
“Look at the success of France with their stupid … you know, off for August, blah blah blah. That’s not a very thriving country. Should America go down the drain because people don’t want to go back to work?”
Stewart told the magazine that she is on a “rampage” to get people in the United States back into offices.
[I tend to agree, although I’ve been a remote worker for sixteen years now. It makes sense in some applications, but by and large, workforces benefit from close in-person engagement, properly managed. It provides for more innovative/creative spark, helps dial down interpersonal issues, and allows for better management. And that kind of move could forestall a commercial real estate collapse, which is clearly on the way. — Ed]
