The legislation started out as a ban on drag shows for kids, but was amended to deal with any lewd behavior. “You want it to cover inappropriate drag shows, but you [also] want it to cover if a stripper starts doing stuff in front of a child,” Rep. Matt Shaheen, R-Plano, said.

[No one is proposing to ban such shows altogether, including drag shows, which have been around for decades if not longer. They want to limit adult entertainment to *adults*. That shouldn’t be at all controversial, as it has been the norm for decades as well, but only now is being targeted at children. — Ed]
