NEWS: 241-187, House votes to adopt the rule to advance the Biden-McCarthy debt limit legislation.
29 Republicans vote NO.
52 Democrats vote YES.
This sets up a final House vote later today.
A very good sign for the bill's prospects of passage.https://t.co/KgWEyD9fBR

[The media narrative is that House Dems “helped” the GOP with those 52 votes, but this was on a deal that Joe Biden negotiated and Hakeem Jeffries endorsed. The story here is that McCarthy held onto almost all of his caucus, and most of the House Dems abandoned both Jeffries and Biden on this vote. Although, I suspect that Jeffries is being very cautious with his caucus and hoping to keep as few from walking the progressive plank as necessary.
Still, this helps underscore McCarthy’s point that Biden and Schumer caved. — Ed
UPDATE: The debate will start at 7:15 and last one hour. Why the delay? McCarthy’s making good on a promise. — Ed]
The House is now in recess subject to the call of the chair.
Why? Because it hasn't been 72 hours since the bill was released, per GOP sources.
The House will move onto one hour of debate evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats at 7:15 p.m.
