Rogan: "I hate identity politics"

Rogan and Carr laughed about the ad and its recent backlash, but the podcaster said the kerfuffle left a bitter aftertaste.

“I hate Identity Politics with a passion,” Rogan said. “Human beings made beer. And some human beings look good in bikinis.”

“I’d like to see a pie chart of how many women are making beer,” Rogan added.

[The real question is how many women are *buying* beer. From what I have seen, men make up a large majority of beer purchasers, probably even more so at the bottom end of the price/quality range. Beer companies might want to see if they can appeal to women, but it’s not necessary to insult their existing customer base to do that. Advertisers routinely run multiple targeted campaigns for different markets at the same time to sell mass-produced fare; McDonalds did that for decades to appeal to black and Hispanic markets. This is not a marketing campaign; it’s a lecture series. And that’s what Joe hates, and me too. — Ed]
