So much for the sanctuary city: Mayor Adams outsources migrants to the suburbs

New York City received $30 million from the Biden administration out of the requested $350 million in federal funds to manage the surge of illegal immigrants. The city had housed more than 60,000 asylum-seekers last year and estimates it will spend $4.2 billion to house and care for illegal immigrants by mid-2024. As a result of insufficient funding, Mayor Eric Adam’s administration announced plans to send some of the illegal immigrants to the suburbs. Mayor Adams said, “The city is being destroyed by the migrant crisis.”

Cue border states giving Adams the side-eye.
