Sinema: "You don't go from one broken party to another"

In an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Sinema, who left the Democratic Party last year and officially registered as an independent, said she is “absolutely” done with party affiliation.

Asked by host Margaret Brennan whether she will ever become a Republican, Sinema said both sides of the aisle were “broken” parties, adding: “You don’t go from one broken party to another.”

[It’s interesting that CBS and Face the Nation didn’t feature this clip; I can’t find it anywhere on social media or YouTube either. It’s not really much of a surprise either; Sinema might find a GOP primary very tough in Arizona, perhaps almost as tough as the Democrat primary she sidestepped by declaring herself an independent. She would not fit well into the GOP either, possibly worse than she fits into the Democrat Party, but not by a lot. Her best bet is to run as an independent and hope both parties nominate extremists, which at this point seems pretty likely. — Ed]
