🚨NEW POLL🚨
Trump's favorability rating is -6 in Texas.
He is at 28% with Texas Independents.
53% of Texans say he should not run for re-election, including 63% of Independents.
What exactly is the pathway to 270 without Texas?https://t.co/0CxEOs3WNA pic.twitter.com/tOWwC5t6yU

[This will get some play today for obvious reasons, but people should take this poll with a grain of salt. First off, this is taken before the primary fight really gets underway, and voters know they have choices without yet getting too attached to any of them. Plus: Trump’s at -6 for favorability among all respondents (42/48), but the other options aren’t necessarily much better. Ron DeSantis is only a +5, 40/35, albeit with more potential upside than Trump. Nikki Haley’s at 29/30, Mike Pence is -15 (30/45), and Tim Scott only gets a 28/20.
Bottom line: Trump doesn’t have any more potential downsides in Texas than he does nationally. The problem is that he doesn’t have any better upsides here either, even with the state as reliable red as it is. — Ed]
