Pennsylvania Republicans are heading for an unforced error if they press their current demands regarding health and proof-of-life updates from Senator John Fetterman and his office.
I get it. The election of Fetterman to the Senate was an unmitigated disaster on multiple levels. We can definitely fault his family and his campaign for not pulling him from the race after the stroke, and then putting him through everything that they have up to this point, with the aid and comfort of a complicit media and Democrat party apparatus. However, Pennsylvania Republicans bear fault for not telling Donald Trump to take a hike and letting him endorse Mehmet Oz as “his” candidate. We warned you that this would not end well, and the only reason Oz didn’t lose in a blowout is because some voters could tell that Fetterman was quite clearly not able to serve. Unfortunately, not enough of them did, but Pennsylvania Republicans picked the candidate with the best name recognition and the greatest problems.
[Agreed. It’s fine to point out how Democrats almost literally propped Fetterman up and that his wife and party leaders exploited him rather than allow him to get the rest and care he clearly needed. Everything else is water under the bridge at this point. Next time, Republicans should choose more wisely than in nominating a carpet-bagging snake-oil salesman. That’s where their focus should be for 2024 when Bob Casey runs for re-election. — Ed]
