McCarthy confirms: Ethics Committee investigating Santos; UPDATE: Denies

Asked about Santos’ constituents calling on him to resign, McCarthy said: “Ethics is moving through, and if ethics finds something, we’ll take action. Right now we’re not allowing him to be on committees from the standpoint of the questions that have arisen.”

Santos told CNN he is “not concerned” about the House Ethics investigation confirmed by the speaker.

[The only surprise here is McCarthy making this public. Those investigations are usually a bit more sotto voce, although not *always.* This speaks to the politics around Santos, and — likely — the deep desire among the GOP to distance themselves from someone who looks very much like a pathological liar. — Ed]
