Pledge of Allegiance "doesn't apply to a lot of our citizens"

Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin lashed out at Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) on Thursday for calling on the House Judiciary Committee to make the Pledge of Allegiance a part of its proceedings.

During the latest broadcast of the ABC midday talk show “The View,” Goldberg argued that it would be “more patriotic” to address issues like “police violence” — and Hostin claimed that the pledge itself did not even “apply to a lot of our citizens.”

Goldberg weighed in first, saying, “This is the Judiciary Committee, right, so wouldn’t it be a better show of patriotism to be working on issues like police violence, mass shootings, prison reform?”
