NYT's attack on John Durham part of a pattern

It’s said that Special Counsel John Durham is still writing, if not finishing up, his report detailing the findings of his multi-year investigation.

As always, the leaks – and the hits – are preceding the report.

There’s an obvious and tired trick from the media when it comes to the discovery of abuses by federal officials during the Russiagate scandal, which stretched from before the opening of Crossfire Hurricane to the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. I’m sure you’ve seen it. The formula is quite simple: downplay or ignore what has been uncovered and focus on what hasn’t been found.

[I agree with TF that the NYT report seems intended to push narratives. As I wrote at the time I added it to the headlines, I don’t see how anyone could trust leaks from special counsel investigations, especially rinsed through mainstream-media bias. Didn’t we learn from Robert Mueller? On the other hand, the idea that Durham won’t come up with anything actionable also fits the pattern of uselessness by special counsels in almost every instance of their use. — Ed]
