Baltimore finally cracking down on "squeegee kids" maybe

Just days before the crackdown begins on squeegee kids at some of Baltimore’s busiest intersections, a hiring event was held to connect the kids to potential jobs. The celebration comes as critics continue to sound the alarm that the plan moving forward is not the best solution for the city.

When the Squeegee Collaborative rolled out the initiatives, it came with enforcement zones at six intersections in the city, some of the most problematic areas when it comes interactions between squeegee kids and motorists starting Jan. 10, 2023.

In addition to the enforcement zones – which do not include other intersections round the city – the collaborative said there will be an “earn and learn” program that will pay the kids to participate in training programs.
