Stassen was the Governor of Minnesota for six years (three two-year terms) beginning in 1938. After those wins, he ran for the presidential nomination nine times: 1948, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992 and lost them all.
At the same time, he ran for seven other offices and lost all seven.
