Chief Justice John Roberts agreed to temporarily put on hold a lower court order requiring the release of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns by the Internal Revenue Service to a Democratic-led House committee.

[A curious decision, since the statute seems clear on Ways and Means access to such data. I’d guess that this will be a very temporary hold for just the period it takes to file an appeal, and perhaps only given the novel and obvious political nature of the case. Stay tuned! — Ed]
