Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton falsely claimed that women will die because of pro-life laws at a meeting last week with pro-abortion groups in California.

The former first lady made the claim while advocating for a proposed state constitutional amendment, Proposition 1, which is on the ballot in November, KRON News 4 reports. Planned Parenthood, NARAL and other pro-abortion groups organized the event in San Francisco.

“This issue about access to abortion and contraception are issues that go right to the heart,” Clinton said.

While Clinton, a Democrat, acknowledged that abortion on demand is legal in California, she said the situation could change as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which allows states to protect unborn babies from abortion. She claimed that without the amendment, California could pass laws that restrict or ban abortion and endanger women’s lives.
