Scholz: Germany has "solved" its winter energy issues

We increased the influx of gas from western European ports, in Netherland, in Belgium and newly in France. We organized that they increase their capacities. We buy more gas from Norway and the Netherlands who are producing gas. And we decided to fill our storages. We are now above 90% which is completely different from one year ago when we would not have been able to face a situation like this.

We decided to bring back coal plants to produce electricity for- not using gas for doing so. We decided to make it easy for companies to defuse switch, so that they can go from gas to oil or coal with legislative support. And we decided that the nuclear plants in the south of Germany could continue to produce electricity and generate a very, very large amount if necessary.

And if you look at all these decisions, I could say to you now and to the public in Germany, completely different to one year ago, we will be able to face this winter, although Russia is not delivering gas through Nordstream 1 pipeline to Germany and some other countries in Europe. Many others took similar decisions in Europe. So this question of supply is, as it looks like, solved.
