McConnell: If Pelosi doesn't go to Taiwan, she'll hand China a victory

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said the U.S. would be handing China a victory if Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi cancels her trip to the island nation: “They’re an island surrounded by water. It’s pretty obvious where the attacks might be emanating from and what form they might take. What I think we ought to be doing rather than worrying about whether the Speaker does or doesn’t go to Taiwan — and I agree with you that if she doesn’t go now, she’s handed China sort of a victory of sorts — is to work with the Taiwanese to make sure that the weapons systems that they actually have meet the threat that they might actually have to endure.”
