The Dobbs ruling made these people want to get vasectomies

Studies have found the general profile of people who have had vasectomies to be married, white, over 35 years old, and having two or more children. However, research has also shown that people who had no children at the time of their vasectomy were unlikely to seek a reversal.

“I had a vasectomy literally this morning at 9 a.m., an hour before the announcement of the Supreme Court’s decision. Took 20 minutes and a $60 co-pay,” said Sean Sullivan of Boston. Sullivan was motivated to do it once he heard about the leaked Supreme Court decision last month. “I am a married father of twins, and my wife and I made the decision so that my wife did not have to obtain another IUD or other form of birth control,” Sullivan said. “10 out of 10. Would recommend.”

Mark McKinny of New Jersey also decided to make an appointment as soon as he heard the news. “I’m 37 years old, married with two kids, and have been putting it off for years now just because I get really anxious about surgery, but this finally kicked me in the teeth enough to make it happen,” he told BuzzFeed News.

“My wife has actually been bugging me to make an appointment for a while, and when I told her I made one today she said, ‘So whenever you need to do something, I’m going to reach out to the Supreme Court.’”
