Breaking: Texas House Dem fleebaggers return to work, quorum achieved

Thirty-eight days after leaving the state to kill a GOP-backed elections bill, enough Texas Democrats returned to the House chamber on Thursday to establish a quorum.

There were 99 members present for the 13th day of the second special session of the year, including two Democrats who had been among the 57 lawmakers to leave Texas for Washington D.C. in July at the start of the first special session: Reps. Armando Walle and Ana Hernandez of Houston.

Also returning to the floor on Thursday was Rep. Garnet Coleman, D-Houston, a longtime legislator who supported his quorum-busting colleagues but did not join them in fleeing the state as he recovered from a lower-leg amputation.
