Conservative Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) will launch a last-minute, long-shot bid for GOP Conference chair, sources said, challenging Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) who has the endorsement of former President Trump and top House GOP leaders. Stefanik had been running unopposed for the No. 3 leadership post that became vacant when House Republicans on Wednesday voted to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from the job for repeatedly calling out Trump’s falsehoods that the 2020 election was stolen.
