Vice President Mike Pence has assumed control of Mr Trump’s cabinet and is ‘acting as if he is no longer President’, one former aide said.

The source added: ‘Allies and foes alike have united to ensure the President doesn’t go completely rogue during his final days in office. He has effectively been shut down. The cabinet are going about their duties to ensure the safety of the country and a smooth transition of power to Joe Biden.’ The move to neuter Mr Trump comes after five of the most turbulent days in US history, which began on Wednesday when he riled supporters into storming the US Capitol.
