Two best mates who ‘married’ to bypass coronavirus restrictions and have a 150-person party have been hailed as ‘geniuses’ for ‘thinking outside the box’.

Photos of the teenagers’ backyard wedding in Sydney’s Lower North Shore went viral this week after a friend shared an image of the November 12 ceremony online.

The friend told social media page Brown Cardigan, which published the image, that his mates exchanged vows so they could have a formal after party, following their graduation from prestigious Sydney Grammar School this year.

The boys’ horrified parents, who were holidaying at the time, rushed home after spotting the photo online to stop the party from going ahead.
