Poll: Majority of voters want bigger U.S. role in Syria

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll published Wednesday morning found 63 percent of responders wanted the U.S. to be doing more in “ending the ongoing civil war in Syria.” Specifically, 31 percent believe the US should be doing “much more” while another 32 percent believe the US should being “somewhat more.”

When asked what specific actions the U.S. may take in Syria, voters signaled narrower support.

The poll found 57 percent support airstrikes in Syria, 39 percent support sending US combat troops on the ground to remove Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, 41 percent support sending arms to anti-government groups in the nation.
