The many ways the Senate could tank ObamaCare repeal

But there are still lingering doubts among senators that could kill the bill. There are three distinct complaints across the ideological spectrum: that the bill’s tax credits are too similar to Obamacare’s subsidies; that it wouldn’t protect enough low-income Medicaid recipients; and that it would defund Planned Parenthood.

Any or all of those objections could tank the entire effort if they draw three Republicans in opposition.

Such a scenario is not out of the realm of possibility, given the vocal complaints from Republicans.

“I don’t think that the Planned Parenthood defund should be in the ACA bill that we’re dealing with. I just don’t think so,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who, along with three other Republican senators, also raised major concerns about how Medicaid enrollees would be treated.
