“It means a lot, playing against the best one-armed golfers in the country”

When Jesse Flokowski talks about his golf handicap, the discussion is never about the fact he was born without a right arm.

“I’ve been playing well this year,” said Flokowski, a 26-year-old assistant golf pro at Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club in Alberta, Canada. Flokowski’s official handicap is plus-0.2, meaning on any given day, he’s likely to match or break par on a regulation golf course.

Flokowski, a three-time national one-arm golfer champion, is one of 24 golfers from around the world beginning play Thursday in the Fightmaster Cup, a Ryder Cup-style event for one-armed golfers being contested at the Players Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort.
