Still, this Trump comes off as more grounded, less compelled to brag about his smarts or his wealth or his fancy degrees, more interested in presenting himself as everyDad, just wanting to sneak out for a meal after the kids are in bed, maybe do some hunting once in a while.
At a breakfast Wednesday sponsored by The Wall Street Journal, Trump Jr. wasn’t exactly shy when quizzed about his own political ambitions. He’d “love to be able to do it,” Trump said, “as a patriot,” once the kids are older.
He displayed a seasoned politician’s adeptness at evading difficult questions and a seasoned operative’s willingness to tangle when appropriate. “Enough’s enough,” he said of former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski’s comments on campaign chairman Paul Manafort. “You can’t claim to be an ally and then try to sabotage the guy that you’re upset that was brought in to work with you.”
Governor of New York? Watch that Trump.
