Many of the states that backed Ted Cruz —Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming — are away from the front.

Ohio, which voted for its own governor, John Kasich, but is also a host of the event, is on the side of the stage. Kasich is not scheduled to address the convention.

A spokeswoman for the Republican National Convention did not immediately respond to request for comment.
