Mr. Trump cited California and New York, states where Republicans haven’t been competitive since 1988, as states where he plans to focus his campaign’s time and effort. Later in his remarks, he predicted he would win Michigan and Pennsylvania, two states Republicans haven’t carried since 1988…
Mr. Trump’s boast that he can expand the traditional GOP map came a few hours after he told reporters in North Dakota that he doesn’t see the usefulness in adding more aides in battleground states. In response to a question about whether his staff is sufficient for the forthcoming general election campaign, Mr. Trump said he plans to rely on the Republican National Committee.
“They build over years and years staffs in every state,” Mr. Trump said. “You can’t do that, or you can’t do it very well, if you’re doing it over the next few months.”
