Turner boss predicts big things for CNN after "historically interesting" president elected

“The overall national consciousness level of politics has been brought up, and I just don’t think it’s going to disappear,” Turner CEO John Martin said.

CNN is benefiting greatly from the unusual political season, and a top executive said Thursday that the network should be able to continue that success.

“We are going to have a president who is historically interesting,” said John Martin, CEO of Time Warner’s Turner TV division, carefully avoiding making a prediction of who it might be, though presumably he was referring to Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

“CNN has never been stronger and I believe it’s sustainable … this is a presidential year, it’s been getting a nice bump from that … The brand resonance of CNN has just lifted dramatically,” he said

He added: “If somebody would have suggested at the beginning of this year that CNN would have been the host of as many debates and town halls and political forums as every other network combined, I would have said, ‘No,’ given our nonpartisan approach to covering news.”
