The emerging general election battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump may be more of a contest between anti-Clintons and anti-Trumps.

Nearly half the respondents in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll said they will vote for Clinton or Trump only in order to prevent the other candidate from winning the White House.

Among those who said they would vote for Trump, 47% said their primary reason is they don’t want Clinton to win, the poll said; among Clinton voters, 46% said their reason is they don’t want Trump to win.

Simply put: These are among the most unpopular general election candidates in history.
