Trump is supported by 33 percent of likely GOP primary voters surveyed, a 13-point lead over his nearest rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas), who stands at 20 percent in the Gravis Marketing poll.

Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) follows at 11 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is at 6 percent. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have 5 percent apiece.

Similar polling results have been found in other early voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire, with Trump, Cruz and Rubio atop the pack as others claw for support entering the new year.
