A survivor of the Oregon school killings has told how the gunman handed one of her classmates a package before sending him to a corner of the room, telling him ‘you get to be the lucky one’.

Chris Harper-Mercer then executed eight students and the teacher after asking them if they were Christian, telling them ‘you’re going to see God in just about one second’, but spared the boy.

He also ordered students to crawl towards him to be shot, and told a girl she would be spared if she begged then shot her as she pleaded. 

It is not known what was in the envelope Mercer handed over, but police have confirmed they retrieved a several-page manifesto he wrote from the scene.
