“We could find no evidence that would corroborate such an assertion,” Chief Timothy Longo of the Charlottesville police told reporters.
He stressed that the conclusion did not meanthat “something terrible didn’t happen to Jackie,” only that they could not gather “sufficient facts” to confirm it. He characterized the investigation as suspended, not closed.
