Huckabee tops Iowa poll

An NBC News/Marist survey released Sunday shows Huckabee at the top of the Republican presidential field in the state where he won the 2008 caucuses. Seventeen percent said they would pick Huckabee for the nomination over his GOP rivals, 16 percent gave their support to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and 15 percent indicated they would choose Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. (That’s among 320 potential Republican caucus-goers with a margin of error of plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.)

Support for the remaining prospective Republican candidates falls off sharply from there, with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie polling at 9 percent, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul receiving 7 percent, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson each tallying 6 percent, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum picking up 5 percent, former Texas Governor Rick Perry notching 4 percent, Texas Senator Ted Cruz coming in at 2 percent, and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham earning 1 percent.
