Govs. Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Susana Martinez of New Mexico were included in a scouting report to potential GOP presidential candidates assembled by American Bridge, but both are more frequently mentioned in the No. 2 spot. Rep. Michele Bachmann, who is retiring from Congress, was also part of American Bridge’s opposition research, but her 2012 presidential campaign faltered in Iowa and it’s hard to see her breaking out in the 2016 field.
